PACIFIC 2017 has been hailed an outstanding and unprecedented success.

The Sydney-based event, held 3 – 5 October, re-wrote the record books in terms of industry participation, visiting delegations, conferences and total visitations.

The number of participating exhibitor companies was 546 – the first time it has exceeded 500.

There was a record total of 16,765 attendances over the 3 days of the event, an increase of 12 percent when compared to 2015.

Other event milestones include:

  • A record 79 visiting delegations at senior military and industry level from 53 nations
  • A record 18 major conferences, seminars and symposia held in conjunction with the event
  • A record number of senior political decision makers including the Prime Minister, the Defence Minister, the Minister for Defence Industry and the Foreign Affairs Minister and various state ministers.

CEO Ian Honnery said PACIFIC 2017 delivered an impressive set of outcomes.

"The event has matured into an important industry forum that has achieved an enviable international reputation," he said.

"Our event has continued a strong growth trend during the past 17 years in terms of industry and government participation as well as prestige and importance".

"As a technology showcase for Australia, Asia and the Indo-Pacific it is now second to none".

Now in its tenth iteration, the event returned to the Sydney International Convention Centre, at Darling Harbour, which was being re-built at the time of the previous Pacific Expo two years ago.

With its convenient access to restaurants, hotels and downtown Sydney the venue was perfectly placed to facilitate the needs of the large number of exhibitors, conference delegates and trade visitors.
